Christians around the world from September 1 to October 4<\/strong>, feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron of the environment, we celebrate the Time of Creation<\/a><\/strong>. It is an annual event that encourages prayer and action for the common home, and has an ecumenical spirit. Representatives of all the Churches of Europe have made a joint statement and recognize these days as an occasion to celebrate the richness of our faith and to accept the need for vigilance and sustainable living conditions throughout the earth, more now with the impact of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It begins with the Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, established by Pope Francis in 2015, in line with the theme dealt with in his encyclical Laudato Si '<\/a><\/em> on the care of the common home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year the event has as its motto "Jubilee for the Earth"<\/strong>. The concept of Jubilee is rooted in the Bible and stresses that there must be a fair and sustainable balance between social, economic and ecological realities. The biblical jubilee lesson shows us the need to rebalance life systems, affirms the need for equality, justice and sustainability, affirms the need for a prophetic voice in defense of the common home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Nazareth we join in this prayer and we propose concrete actions to renew the commitment to care for this land that the Creator has entrusted to us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
